Independent Voices: Prison Dogs

KRCC, Colorado Springs    February 13, 2008

From the weekly "Independent Voices" series.  This week we bring you the radio companion to the Independent’s cover story on the K-9 training program inside several Colorado prisons.  Matthew Schniper shares some of the audio he gathered while reporting on how working with dogs is affecting prisoners.  Prisoners like Marion Crawford.

Crawford: "When I first got to this facility a dude walked me by with a dog.  I said ‘what’s he doing with a dog?’ I went out to the big yard and there was 14 dogs. I was in heaven. I immediately went to my case manager, 'I need to be in this program.'"
